Singapore Race : 6 July 2007

July 6th, 2007

Sand racing for tonight …

Race 1 - 3 Justforhelp looks like hot favourite. Outsider, I am looking at 9 Prince Gold. Hope this 2 year old can fire !

Race 2, got quite a number of front running horse in this field. Veeandvee, Golden Chestnut, Welcome Change and Valiant Master. Personally I like Welcome Change.

Race 3 - 2 Superb Legend seems the best here with Mark Ewe claiming 2kg.

Race 4, I feel that this is a tough race. Prefer to skip. If I were to pick a horse for betting, I will consider Royal Smile.

Race 5, 10 Super Express is a very risky horse. I think he will definitely lead in this race. Since he won before on SAND and place in 1400m, just scared it will lead from pillar to post. Outsider that I like is Sandstorm. He won at MRA 46 points carrying 56.5kg. Now, MRA points is 48 and -4kg claim will result 53.5kg in riding weight. This horse definitely got advantage in ratings. Let’s see whether Azrull can overcome the wide barrier or not.

Race 6, no idea … i don’t really like maiden. I will monitor the tote for 10 Handsome Jazz for betting support.

Race 7, Lim’s Swing and outsider Dreammore.

Race 8, Han Effect for me … value pick, I go for Kamsky

Race 9, go for value pick again … Classical Park.

That’s my preference for now. Will look at the last minute betting support to reconfirm my bet. Good luck …

Selangor Meeting - 2007/06/23 and 2007/06/24

June 28th, 2007

I hope you “survived” last week KL meeting …

It is an interesting outing for me.

Make some small coins but I am happy as long as I am on the positive side.

Here are some of the interesting stats I gathered.

Before that let me clarify some of my own terminology

Sprint Races are 1200, 1300, 1400
Outsiders, I just classify as payout > RM 40
Since this is Malaysia racing, I will use RM and if it is Singapore racing, I will use SG $.

Both days, there are 14 sprint races and 9 races over a mile.

In the sprint races, 6 out of 14 races are won by horses that pay over RM 40.

Combining first, second and third placing for the sprint races, 25 out of 42 ( 3 placing x 14 races ) on board are outsiders.

It is about 60%.

So, if you are betting on favourite like those paying less than RM 20 in sprint races, you are out of luck.

You will be on losing end.

The reason why this happen is very simple … my horse racing sifu from Singapore ( Mr G ) guided me on this during race day.

Told me, don’t look at those donkeys in Class 5. Look for the younger generation.

They are not proven and possibly steal the show.

and he is RIGHT !

For sprint races, here are the count of horses that are on board.

3yo = 13 ( 5 horses won )
4yo = 7 ( 2 horses won )
5yo = 13 ( 5 horses won )
6yo = 4 ( 1 horse won )
7yo = 4 ( 1 horse won )
9yo = 1

Now, you flip through your race card and look for sprint races.

Tell me, is it easier to pick a 3 year old or 5 year old ?

I guess you can easily count how many entries are there for 3 yo.

It is not much …
