Handicapping Hong Kong Races in 5 Minutes

Horse racing in Hong Kong is one of the toughest for punters to make money. Personally, I found the traditional way of handicapping using speed figure and ratings are not very consistent. Most of the time you will see nail biting finishing and 4 to 5 horses rushing to the finish line.

To make things simple, I developed a quick way to handicap horses for Sha Tin and Happy Valley races.

Statistics

Go to Hong Kong Jockey Club website

Step 1 : Check the top 5 trainer ranking. Switch the view to percentage.

Note down all the trainers with high winning percentage.

Step 2 : Check the top 5 jockey ranking. Switch the view to percentage.

Step 3 : Create Race Card in Excel format or you can download it from Singapore Turf Club website.

Step 4 : Use Excel Auto Filter and highlight the top trainers and jockey with high winning percentage in BOLD.

Step 5 : Focus on the selection in BOLD.

Step 6 : To perform further filtering, I will use Speed Pro from HKJC website.

Now, we have horse no 4, 5, 7 and 11

Using Speed Pro, I will choose the horse that are in the front pack.

2, 9, 1 and 12 are the front runner but none of our horses are in the front pack.

It might not be a good race to play and should skip this race.  However, if we insist of playing, 11 could be a consideration.

I hope this simple handicapping method, able to provide you another angle to find a winner.

Good luck.
